One person injured in overnight Lackawanna apartment fire

LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) — One person was injured in this overnight fire at a multi-floor apartment building on Ridge Road in Lackawanna.

The Lackawanna Fire Department said the victim was conscious and alert, and was treated by Rural-Metro. But there’s no word on the victim’s condition or what hospital that the vicitm could be at.

Crews tell News 4 that the fire started on the 4th floor, in a living room of one of the apartments. The call came in around 11:15pm Saturday night.

Officials say that the fire damage was limited to just the apartment that the fire started in, but more than a dozens other apartments were affected.

Captain Jeffrey Palczewski, Lackawanna Fire Department, said, “Our problem right now is water damage form the sprinkler system, we have about 15 rooms affected, so we have the red cross here to assist the residents.”

No word yet on the cause, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating the fire.

The apartments are described as a seven story senior living and mixed occupancy building.
