Jamestown men face drug charges following morning raids

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) — Simultaneous drug raids landed two Jamestown men in jail Tuesday morning.

Jamestown Police and members of the New York State Police conducted raids at two homes on E. 2nd St. and W. 5th St. at 6 a.m.

Inside the W. 5th St. home, police say they found cocaine and drug paraphernalia. They arrested Rashid Jabbar, 31, during the search and charged him with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

At the same time, other law enforcement officers raided the E. 2nd St. home, where they located 24-year-old Devonte Chandler. Officers searching his home said they found cocaine, bath salts, prescription pills and a stun gun in his possession.

Chandler was charged with the same crimes as Jabbar, along with criminal possession of a weapon.

Both men were jailed before their arraignments in court.
