Bills hold night practice scrimmage

The Bills battled injuries forcing a shorter scrimmage than originally planned.

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) – One Bills is in scrimmage in the books at St. John Fisher College. It lasted about 45 minutes shorter than planned because of injuries but, still got some big plays. One guy who stood out was Robert Woods. He’s been working on his speed big time this offseason and it paid off in the scrimmage.

“I want them throwing the ball out there, it may look like we’re covered, you put it out there and we’re gonna go get it” Woods said. “The same with all our receivers, we want a chance to go get the ball, you saw that a couple times today.”

With linebacker Reggie Ragland sidelined and no timetable yet on his return, Zach Brown got the start in this one next to Preston Brown. He forced a fumble and looked real comfortable in this one.

“It’s unfortunate Reggie got hurt, we hope it’s nothing serious,” Brown commented after. “You just gotta step in, fill in keep it moving. You’ve gotta be like he never got hurt. You gotta know your playbook in and out.”

Safety Aaron Williams returned to live action for the first time since week 2 of last year. He’s been very concerned about his neck injury but he made his first hit and felt just fine.

“I’ve been waiting for this day a whole year now,” Williams said. “It feels great to get nice solid contact and realize I’m okay and realize I can sustain big hits. It wasn’t the biggest hit I’ve had but it was enough for me to realize I can continue playing this game.”

The only injury news to report from the night was left tackle Cordy Glenn who walked off with a trainer, The Bills say it’s an ankle injury, perhaps just a precaution since this was a scrimmage.

The Bills are off on Sunday and will return to camp on Monday.
