PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) – Ahead of the Bills first scrimmage of the season, Rex Ryan gave an update on the status of rookie linebacker Reggie Ragland who suffered a knee injury on Friday.
Originally Ryan said he didn’t believe there was ligament damage to the second-round pick’s knee, but on Saturday evening he backed off from that claim.
“We have to get the swelling out of there before we know exactly what it is so, however long that takes we are not sure,” Ryan said. “We want to get some work done.”
The injury limited the number of linebackers the Bills would have available in the scrimmage on Saturday night.
“This is a big night for our players. Next step, progressing into next week and the preseason game. Some starters will play tonight more than in that first preseason game. It is a big night but with that being said it is a shorter night than it was last year.”
