LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) — The man accused of fatally stabbing Robert Wheeler, 23, has been ordered by a judge to undergo a mental evaluation.
Buffalo resident Christian Gillie, 20, whose family said has a history of mental illness and violence, is accused of showing up at Wheeler’s Lackawanna home and killing him.
The Tuesday incident occurred when Wheeler was trying to protect his nephew, his family says.
Gillie was charged with second-degree murder and most recently appeared in court Friday.
A GoFundMe site was created for Wheeler’s family to pay for his funeral expenses. It can be found here.
