SPCA taking care of injured eagle found in Evans backyard

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Animal experts say bald eagles are making a comeback in western New York. One of them is getting some special care.

The Erie County SPCA is taking care of an injured eagle. The bird was found in someone’s backyard in Evans and taken to the SPCA Wednesday night.

As of Friday evening, the eagle was in critical condition. It was extremely malnourished, had an injury and signs of an infection.

The SPCA says the eagle might have West Nile Virus or another serious illness.

They are trying to build up the eagle’s strength so that they can take an x-ray.
