NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Hundreds came to Gratwick Park Saturday for the KanJam World Championship.
The popular game was invented in Buffalo in 1990.
100 teams competed in Saturday’s championship tournament. Players came from all over, representing 14 states including Canada and even the Netherlands!
News 4 spoke with one of the owners of Kanjam Who says the game is not just for the beach.
They say it is being played in gym classes across the country.
“We’re in over 7,500 schools across the us. The game is a sport. The students play it, they love the game, they want to go out and buy it and they compete. The game has got very competitive,” said organizer Mitchell Rubin.
You can keep the game going at night. Stores now sell “Glow in the Dark KanJam.”
