Buffalo man re-sentenced after 2011 killing of woman in his home

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — After pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter in June, Buffalo resident Marcus Gottsche, 34, received a new sentence for killing a woman.

On Wednesday, Gottsche was re-sentenced to 22.5 years in prison for fatally shooting 28-year-old Buffalo resident Jasmine Armour. Back in December 2011, he was originally convicted of murder in Armour’s death and was later sentenced to 25 years-to-life in jail.

Gottsche appealed his original sentencing, with officials finding that he was denied effective representation by an attorney. This ultimately led to Wednesday’s decision.

In February 2011, Gottsche and Armour went to his home after a night of drinking. While there, Armour began to eat Gottsche’s leftover sandwich and a fight ensued.

The fight turned violent, as Gottsche shot Armour in the back with a rifle when she tried to run from his home.

Gottsche’s sentencing happened in State Supreme Court.
