BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Paul Ryan, the speaker of the House of Representatives, will be coming to Buffalo near the end of the month for a fundraising event.

Ryan, a former Republican Vice Presidential candidate, is seeking to keep the House mostly of the same political persuasion as him.

Locals can attend Ryan’s August 29 appearance at Hotel Lafayette with a $1,000 donation, which will include a dinner and reception. For $10,000, donors can access a VIP photo reception.

The fundraising committee itself is being called “Team Ryan.” It combines fundraising efforts for the National Republican Campaign Committee, Ryan for Congress and Prosperity Action Inc.

The event features a list of big-name local sponsors like Rep. Chris Collins and Buffalo developer Nick Sinatra. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
