BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Sandro Tirado, 39, faced up to 40 years in jail for attempted murder, but will only spend 26 behind bars after his sentencing on Tuesday.
Tirado was sentenced after being convicted of criminal use and possession of a firearm, assault and criminal controlled substance possession.
Prosecutors say Tirado entered the home of Davina Vazquez, 39, and tried to shoot her boyfriend, but the gun did not fire.
During the confrontation, Vazquez tried to defend her boyfriend, resulting in Tirado shooting her in the arm and face. The shooting was seen by Vazquez’s four-year-old daughter.
Although Vazquez survived, she was left with a bullet lodged near her spine.
Weeks before the shooting occurred, Buffalo police say they saw Tirado throw a pistol from a window. They also allegedly found cocaine in his room.
Following his jail sentence, Tirado will spend five years on probation.
