Buffalo woman sentenced for violent robbery involving meat cleaver

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo woman will spend ten years in prison after pleading guilty to a violent robbery involving a meat cleaver.

Just over a year ago, Mercedes Rosado, 46, attacked Jaqualine Rosado, 17, with the weapon, cutting her face and breaking her nose. The elder Rosado, who has no relation to Jaqualine, also stole the girl’s shoes and purse.

In addition to her jail sentence, Mercedes will also spend five years under supervision, following her release. Mercedes signed an order of protection that says she must stay away from Jaqualine until 2033.
