Bills set to retire Bruce Smith’s #78

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – At halftime of the Bills-Jets Thursday Night Football game, Buffalo will honor former defensive end Bruce Smith.

Smith, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009, will become just the second Bills player in franchise history to have his number required. Jim Kelly had his #12 retired in 2001.

The Virginia native still holds the NFL career record for sacks at 200. And is an 11 time Pro Bowl selection. He played for the Buffalo Bills from 1985-1999.
