WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – Williamsville North High School students came back from their summer break to find major improvements at their school’s athletic complex, and Friday, the district will celebrate the grand opening of that facility.
A ceremony and ribbon cutting will be held beginning at 6 p.m. ahead of the big homecoming football game.
The district’s athletic director, Chris Mucica, calls the improvements at the facility a game changer.
There’s new synthetic turf, new bleachers, new score boards, new lights, a new press box, a new concessions building, and new restrooms, among other improvements.
Work started in the spring, but the projects have been planned for years.
District residents approved the funding for the projects at Williamsville North and at the other two high schools when they voted in May 2015.
The work to overhaul the athletic complexes at the other two high schools should happen next summer.
