Two WNY cities marked dangerous after dark

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) –  A new report puts two western New York cities in the top ten list of most dangerous places to be in the state after dark.

According to, you are in danger of being a victim of a violent crime if you live in Niagara Falls or Jamestown.  The City of Niagara Falls actually comes in at number two, Jamestown at number 6.  The organization used only the most current statistics from the FBI and the Neighborhood Scout’s list.

The report cites that you have a 1 in 84 chance of becoming a victim of a violent crime after dark in Niagara Falls.

The listing cites a dangerous city as one with high numbers of murders, arson and reported rapes.

Rochester also made the top ten but Buffalo did not.

Here are the most dangerous places in New York according to the website:

  3. Poughkeepsie
  4. Binghamton
  5. Rochester
  6. Jamestown
  7. Schenectady
  8. Elmira
  9. Middletown
