BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A fire that broke out in a William Street plaza Wednesday afternoon is under investigation.

According to fire officials, smoke and flames coming out of the Towne Gardens plaza were reported by a passerby around 4 p.m. Both a Boost Mobile and a beauty supply store suffered smoke and water damage.

Buffalo Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield says the fire is considered suspicious because it appears to have started outside the structure.

Everyone inside the stores when the fire broke out made it out safely.
