BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – People tuning into 97 Rock during the Make-A-Wish Radio-Thon should hear a very familiar voice.
Legendary radio host Larry Norton has come out of retirement to help with this year’s fundraiser for Make-A-Wish of Western New York. The annual drive started for its 22nd year at 6 a.m. Thursday.
The 28-hour marathon aims to raise about $100,000 by 10 a.m. Friday, which would put the drive over the $3 million total mark.
All of the money stays in Western New York to help grant wishes for local kids dealing with life-threatening medical conditions, to give them hope and help them fight.
Larry Norton announced his retirement during last year’s Radio-Thon, but agreed to come back for one last time this year to help more kids.
During the Radio-Thon, anyone can request any song in exchange for a donation by calling 644-9797.
There are also several large prize packages being auctioned off to help raise money for Make-A-Wish. You can call 888-9797 to place a bid.
