ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — From foam fingers to flannel and fitted hats, the Buffalo Bills are stepping up their gear game.
“Bills fans have been here for a long time,” said Jason Klein, the retail manager at the Bills store. “We’ve been through the thick and thin and they’re here supporting the team and they’ll continue to do so.”
Klein says they hear from fans about what they want to wear and that’s how they update their store wardrobe. Some of the top selling items this year take fans way back to the beginning; they’re items featuring the original logo.
“It is on trend for us right now,” said Klein. “Certainly something you can wear without screaming the charging Buffalo logo. I think it resonates with the fans.”
Another top seller resonating with fans right now is from a few decades after that logo launches. It’s Zubaz. Fans have been loving the loud pattern since the early 90’s and the store is having a hard time keeping their shelves stocked.
“It’s definitely loud and proud like our fan base.”
The Zubaz range in price from $40-$55.
If you’re looking for something a lighter more expensive and just for you – the Bills are offering custom made, New Era Caps at every home game.
“Each home game, we have a different celebrity designer.”
This week’s designer, Quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Chris Cook designed the first one this season; Kim Pegula is in the line up to design one too.
“It’s their personality,” said Klein about the hats. “They’re drawing up what they want to do; taking into mind what they think fans would appreciate as well.”
The hats are $100 each. When a fan orders, they have their head measured so it fits just right. Klein says it’ll take about three weeks to be made and delivered. They’re limited edition and the organization is capping it at 72 orders per hat.
“It’s certainly a fun piece, a collectors piece.”
The store says they’re hearing a lot of fans being appreciative of the new ladies’ line. The Bills are expanding game day wear for women this season.
“The female fan is out there,” said Klein. “They’re just as much as the game day experience as the males are too.”
Klein says a big idea behind a lot of this gear – building on that energy from game day, every day.
“We’re moving forward into the future and fans are excited about that.”
The Bills store opens at 10 a.m. daily or on game days when the kick is at 1 p.m., the store opens at 9 a.m.
