NY waterfowl, wild turkey and pheasant hunting seasons annouced

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) — The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has announced the dates for some small game hunting in the state.

Besides the youth-only hunting seasons for pheasants and waterfowl, several seasons will open on October 1.

Wild Turkey season goes from October 1-14 in the state’s Northern Zone, from October 15-28 in the Southern Zone, and November 19-December 2 in Suffolk County. Hunters may take only one bird per season.

Waterfowl hunting season is September 24-25 in the Lake Champlain Zone, October 1-2 in the Western Zone and November 12-13 in the Long Island Zone.

Pheasant hunting starts October 1 in northern and eastern New York, October 15 in central and western New York and November 1 on Long Island.
