Derek Grant's three points lead Buffalo to first preseason win

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Robin Lehner stopped 37 of 39 Ottawa Senators shots in his 2016-2017 debut, while Jake McCabe scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the Buffalo Sabres notched their first win of the preseason Tuesday night at KeyBank Center.

Newly signed center Derek Grant scored a goal and added two assists, while linemate Nick Baptiste added a goal and an assist. Chris Neil and Derick Brassard scored the two goals for the Senators.

“It was a good game,” Lehner said. “I feel like a lot of things that I’ve been working on are working.”

Kyle Okposo and Tyler Ennis made their preseason debuts for the Sabres in the win.

The Sabres will hit the ice for practice Wednesday when Jack Eichel is expected to re-join the team. Buffalo then heads to Toronto on Thursday for a game against the Leafs, before those two return to Buffalo for a rematch on Friday.
