AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – The start of the college basketball season is just days away with practices set to begin on Friday. University at Buffalo will be looking to make some history this year as they begin a chase to win the third MAC championship in three years, something that has never been done before.
“I still don’t think we will be the clear cut favorites in the deal just with how the rosters will shake out,” Bulls head coach Nate Oats said on Tuesday afternoon. “But, I still would like to make some history here and be the first team to go three in-a-row. We talk to our guys about it and we are not going to keep harping on that. We are going to do what we need to do to get better every day. In the back of your heads you know you have a big bulls eye on your back and you would like to be the first team ever in the history of the MAC to do that.”
“It feeds us,” senior forward Blake Hamilton added. “My two years I have been here we have been under the radar teams and nobody really has that much faith in us. For us to win the MAC and not be predicted the favorites I just feel like for me and CJ and competitors on the team it is just going to fuel the fire.”
“We are thinking about that because we do want a three peat,” sophomore guard CJ Massinburg said. “Some people are counting us out again picking us third in the MAC and we think we should be first in the MAC. So, yeah, we are thinking about a three-pete”
