Former realtor pretends to show homes to steal pills

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A former realtor pleaded guilty to six counts of burglary for stealing narcotics.

According to prosecutors, Williamsville resident Jill Hart, 38, unlawfully entered homes across Erie County, pretending to show them to buyers who did not exist.

When Hart went inside the homes, she would then would steal painkiller pills wherever she could find them. This happened inside homes in Amherst, Cheektowaga, Clarence, Eden, Lancaster and West Seneca.

“This case highlights the need for all citizens of Erie County to go through their medicine cabinets and properly dispose of any unused painkillers,” Acting District Attorney Michael Flaherty said.

The court recommended Hart to a drug treatment program. She faces up to seven years in prison when sentenced. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
