Eden Veterinary Clinic warns of cat with rabies

(Rabies vaccine pellets)

EDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Eden Veterinary Clinic has warned locals to make sure their animals have had recent rabies vaccines.

The warning comes after a cat with rabies was found in the town. According to the clinic, the animal scratched and bit somewhere in the area of New Oregon Rd.

The clinic says that post-exposure vaccines for people are painful and expensive, so preemptive action is encouraged.

Domesticated animals exposed to the disease must be either quarantined or euthanized.
