RIDGEWAY, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Niagara County man convicted of obtaining and distributing drugs from China has been sentenced to 200 months in prison.

Between October 2011 and December 2012, authorities say Allen Young, 40, worked with Peter Viera to obtain and distribute methylone. Viera was later sentenced to 70 months in prison.

On December 13, 2012, members of the Orleans County Major Felony Task Force tried to search Young and his car.

Young quickly sped off before crashing the car in the town of Ridgeway.

As he took off on foot, Young left behind a backpack containing nearly two pounds of methylone and one pound of marijuana. During this time, law enforcement officers found nine rounds of .50 caliber ammunition.

Young escaped that day, but not for more than a couple months. The Barker man was found and arrested in Erie, Pennsylvania on Valentine’s Day the next year.

Just under two months later, authorities searched his home, where they found and took away seven firearms in his possession.

Young was sentenced on Wednesday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
