Son finds mom passed out from alleged overdose after school

ALEXANDER, N.Y. (WIVB) — A mother accused of passing out from a heroin overdose has been charged after her son found her after school.

On Tuesday afternoon, the son of Jill Hanlin, 39, walked into his Alexander home and located his mother there. She was taken to UMMC after this.

Hanlin was the only adult home at the time, so she was responsible for taking care of her son. Because she had passed out from an alleged overdose, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office charged her with endangering the welfare of a child.

Child Protective Services has been notified of the incident.

Hanlin will be back in court on October 25. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
