West Seneca school holds potluck dinner for community learning English

WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) — The students at West Seneca East had the great opportunity to learn just how diverse their community is.

The middle school hosted their annual English as a New Language potluck dinner Tuesday night.

The district-wide event brings various cultures of people, all learning English, together.

Students, their families and staff broke bread and learned about the diversity in the West Seneca district.

“A lot of our students are immigrants or refugees from countries all over the world,” West Seneca English teacher Chelsea Gifford said.

This year, English language learners and their families will work together on a number of cultural projects.
