Ken-Ton school district warns of suspicious van driver

KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Ken-Ton School District has issued a warning to students and parents about a suspicious incident along Wilton Parkway.

The incident occurred east of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute between Truesdale Rd. and Pickford Ave.

School officials say an 11-year-old student got off the school bus just after 3:30 p.m. After this, a driver in a blue minivan passed by him three or four times, the student said.

Officials say the driver was a middle-aged white man with short, light-colored hair and a beard.

Although he did not speak to the child, he apparently stared at him.

The school reminded parents to tell their children to not accept rides from strangers. As Town of Tonawanda police investigate the situation, residents are asked to call them at either 911 or 876-5300 if they see suspicious activity. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
