Emaciated pitbull found during home visit, owner charged

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) — An alleged animal cruelty arrest was made in Jamestown Wednesday morning.

Jamestown police say probation officers were visiting the Prendergast Ave. home of Jose Ortiz, 38, when they discovered something.

According to officers, an emaciated pitbull was found in a small room without any food or water.

As they noticed the dog had not been taken care of, officers charged Ortiz with overdriving, injuring and torturing animals, and failure to provide proper sustenance.

Ortiz was committed to the Jamestown city jail.
