HS Football Friday Recap: Week 7

Cheektowaga wins overtime thriller against Maryvale, claims class B west title.


BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – As the playoff picture becomes clearer, many teams will use the final two weeks of the regular season to clinch division titles.

Such was the case at Cheektowaga, who was hosting fellow unbeaten school Maryvale for the class B west title. The Warriors were led by quarterback Eric Bartnik who scored twice in the fourth quarter and forced overtime between the neighborhood rivals. In the extra frame, Bartnik scored again and the Warriors won 34-26.

In other rivalry action, North Tonawanda beat Tonawanda 41-18 for the 16th straight year. And, West Seneca East beat West Seneca West 28-6.

South Park had a chance to clinch the class A south, but they fell to Iroquois in a defensive battle, 9-0.

Lancaster won big over Depew, 51-14. In a class AA crossover game, Hutch Tech topped Clarence 34-13.
