Volunteers create “birthdays in a box” for local children

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A local organization is helping less fortunate children celebrate their birthdays.

Volunteers came together Saturday to create “Birthdays in a Box.”

The boxes are delivered to children living in shelters or temporary housing – who may not be able to celebrate their special days.

The boxes include birthday essentials – including cake mix, frosting, balloons and napkins.

Organizers tell us the program is about making kids happy.

Children and Family Services will divide up the boxes and hand them out to various programs so they can celebrate birthdays all year.
