Northern PA plane crash victims identified

KEATING TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WIVB) — Investigators have located a plane that had been missing for nearly 24 hours.

According to a spokesperson for the McKean County Dept. of Emergency services, the plane was travelling from Richmond, Virginia to St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada with three passengers on board. The plane reportedly changed course to avoid a thunderstorm when it disappeared from FAA radar Sunday night. Contact with the plane was lost in the area of Keating Township, Pennsylvania.

Officials confirmed that the plane was located near Keating Township Monday night. It is unclear what condition the plane was found in. The investigation is now being handled by Pennsylvania State Police.

Those who died in the plane crash were identified as Ontario residents Rifat Tawig, 25, Cory Mijac, 18, and Benjamin Jeffries, 19. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
