Heather Ace pleads not guilty to Child Endangerment

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB)- The mother of two twin boys killed in a house fire in Batavia appeared in court Monday.

25-year-old Heather Ace lost her two-year-old twins in May; she was not home when the fire started.

Ace pleaded not guilty to two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A Misdemeanor.

Genesee County officials told News 4 Ace is in no way suspected of being involved with starting the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. It’s believed to have started in or near the twins’ bedroom.

Ace was released on supervision. She’ll need to have drug and alcohol evaluations and will be subject to home visits.
