Law enforcement officers clear scene of Wheatfield home after morning incident

WHEATFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) — A heavy presence of New York State Police and Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies was seen at a home on Sunset Dr. in Wheatfield Monday morning.

News 4 crews went to the scene and spoke with authorities, who said “an adult male threatened to hurt himself with gun.”

Dispatchers called the situation a “police emergency.” A large SWAT-style vehicle arrived at the scene around 10:30 a.m.

The situation ended shortly after 11 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies revealed that a man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
