COLLINS, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police confirmed on Wednesday that a man was fatally shot in the Town of Collins on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation.
According to Troopers, Hamburg resident Dustin Sharp, 31, was killed in the vicinity of Route 438 around 1 a.m.
Troopers said Bland has been committed to the Erie County Jail. A second person, identified by the Seneca Nation of Indians as a black female and a person of interest, was also taken into custody.
“I would like to assure the general public that the Seneca Marshals have done an outstanding job investigating, containing and helping in capturing this perpetrator,” Seneca Nation President Maurice A. John Sr. said in a statement. “A special ‘nya:weh’ goes out to the New York State Police, Erie County Sheriff and other local law enforcement that assisted in responding to this tragedy.”
