Victim, suspect in fatal Collins shooting identified

COLLINS, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police confirmed on Wednesday that a man was fatally shot in the Town of Collins on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation.

According to Troopers, Hamburg resident Dustin Sharp, 31, was killed in the vicinity of Route 438 around 1 a.m.

His alleged attacker was identified by State Police as Daryl Bland, 22. Bland is a resident of Buffalo and was charged with second-degree murder.

Troopers said Bland has been committed to the Erie County Jail. A second person, identified by the Seneca Nation of Indians as a black female and a person of interest, was also taken into custody.

“I would like to assure the general public that the Seneca Marshals have done an outstanding job investigating, containing and helping in capturing this perpetrator,” Seneca Nation President Maurice A.
