Batavia mom admits to leaving 2-year-old twins home during fatal fire

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — The mother of twin toddlers who died in a house fire has admitted to leaving them home alone.

Heather Ace was charged with two counts of child endangerment.

In a written statement, the 24-year-old mother wrote that she left the twin boys home alone. She said she went to “buy $10 worth of marijuana…visit a friend…send some Snapchats…and buy a can of Four Loko.

Heather Ace wrote she was gone for about an hour and 15 minutes before she got a call from her mother at 10 p.m. She ignored the first call, then her mom sent a text, and then called again six minutes later to tell Ace her home was on fire.

Ace’s twin 2-year-old boys died in their home that night.

Genesee County officials told News 4 Ace is in no way suspected of being involved with starting the fire.
