Local leaders react to new Clinton email probe

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The announcement of a new email probe comes less than two weeks from the elections. Local leaders reacted to the news.

On one side, Erie County Democratic Chairman Jeremy Zellner says no one truly knows what’s in the emails. Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy says it must be something, especially If it caused the FBI to make the announcement.

Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy said, “God knows what’s in those emails, but it must be something very troubling to the federal officials to declare, they know what’s on the line. I mean, as the American people we are going to pick the next leader of the free world in 11 days, they know what’s on the line, and they found it necessary and the moral obligation to make the announcement.”

Democratic Chairman Jeremy Zellner said, “We are 11 days from the election, where we’ve got the FBI Director giving a memo to 8 Republicans saying, by the way, here are these three emails, we don’t know what they are, we cant even speculate at this point.”

Chairman Langworthy says he wants all Democrats in Erie County to disavow Clinton, just like how the Republicans were called upon to do by Democrats when the Trump video was released. Langworthy says the Erie County Democratic Committee made a declaration earlier this year that they should stand by.

Langworthy said, “On March 11th of this year, they made a declaration that they would not endorse or support any candidate that are either under investigation or have been sanctioned by ethics panels within their distinctive legislative bodies.”

Zellner responded, he said, “It’s silly, I think what Nick is doing is being cute here, and it’s getting to be silly season, what really is happening here is the Republicans are over reaching here, they’ve had a blinded rush to to judgement and today they saw an opening for something they have been hoping for, for a long time to distract from the fact that their candidate is a buffoon.”
