Former Buffalo teacher is Cubs oldest fan

Hazel Nilson

NEW HAMPSHIRE  (WIVB)  108-year old Hazel Nilson is among the fans still celebrating the Chicago Cubs win of the World Series.

The New Hampshire woman was two months old when the Cubs won it all in 1908.  She lived in Buffalo for many years and worked as a Physical Ed teacher at the former Kensington High School.

The morning after their game seven win over Cleveland Hazel received flowers and congratulatory cards.

Hazel held up a newspaper with the headline she waited so long to read, “They were my team and they lost and lost and lost. Go Cubs go!”

Hazel says the Cubs win lets her put another check mark on her bucket list.
