Divers find no evidence of accident during underwater search in City of Tonawanda

CITY OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Police divers found no evidence of an accident during an underwater search in the the City of Tonawanda Saturday night.

Police tell us a caller walking along the canal reported seeing tire marks in the grass around 7:15 p.m. The caller said the marks were heading from East Niagara Street into the water.

Two police divers searched the canal for evidence of a vehicle or possible victims. They did not discover anything during the search and it was called off just before 10 p.m. Saturday night.
