Orchard Park baker cashing in on ‘sweet’ side of presidential election

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Chrisgeanna Keicher has been making cookies for years, but her latest sugar cookies of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have caused quite a buzz.

Apparently though based on what she’s heard from customers not everyone who buys the cookies plans on eating them.

“Most people want to buy the candidate that they do not prefer so that they can eat it or so they can burn it or crack it. so they’re not exactly being purchased for consumption,” said Chrisgeanna Keicher, Curious Cookies Owner.

“I think I’m going to save the one I want I’m sure not sure which neighborhood pet I’m going to give the one I don’t want,” said James Magyar of Orchard Park.

Keicher created the stencils of the Presidential candidates through photos of the candidates she searched on Google.

“It’s a basic sugar cookie with a cream cheese in it so it keeps it soft and more chewy. And then I use a royal frosting on top that hardens and I flood the cookie so that’s the white background is the flooding that dries in 24 hours typically,” said Keicher.

She outlines the cookie with a black royal icing. Everything else gets filled in with a paint brush and edible food coloring. Her goal is to make the cookies tasty, turns out they’re also somewhat controversial.

“The one lady said she would hate to ingest Trump cause she wouldn’t want him in her stomach, the other person said he would’ve left the Hilary cookie in the oven for a couple more minutes,” said Keicher.

Every cookie is like a work of art and can take days to create from start to finish.

“These presidential cookies should hopefully bring a little bit of light heartedness to tomorrow and after everything is said and done you can eat the cookie and forget about it,” said Keicher.

The cookies cost $2 each, if you’re interested in ordering the presidential cookies go to the following link: https://www.facebook.com/curiouscookies
