NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Niagara Falls police officer has been suspended after being arrested on drug charges.
The officer, Stephanie Costanzo, 28, was among three people arrested by the DEA. She was accused of possessing a controlled substance, paraphernalia and marijuana.
Costanzo was arrested on Nov. 9, in addition to two men, each of whom have been arrested before, according to Niagara Falls police.
Raymon Hopson, 32, and Lindsay Carrier, 31, were charged with conspiracy, criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Hopson was charged with a felony for selling drugs.
Costanzo, who is Hopson’s roommate, was charged with two felonies for possession of a controlled substance, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Niagara Falls police say Costanzo was not a target of the investigation, but was arrested when the drugs were found at her house.
Police say they don’t believe she’s suspected of any wrong doing while on duty, nor aiding the drug operation in any way.
Costanzo was released on her own recognizance. The two other men who were arrested at the same time, are still in jail without bail.
