Niagara Falls man accused of drinking while driving without a license

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man is facing felony charges after police in the City of Tonawanda say he drove drunk without a license on Sunday morning.

Niagara Falls resident Freddy Barrett, 48, was pulled over by police after they say he was driving on the wrong side of the road on Hill St.

When police started talking to him, they say he showed signs of intoxication. Police asked him for his driver’s license, but his response was “I don’t have one,” they say.

It turned out that Barrett’s license had been revoked for a previous DWI conviction in Wheatfield this past March.

In addition to allegedly driving without a license, police say Barrett had been driving without a court-ordered interlock device and was also drinking in the vehicle. There were allegedly five cans of cold beer in the front seat.

Barrett faces multiple charges and was held for a court appearance. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
