Canadian man accused of possessing roughly 20 grams of drugs at border

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Canadian man at the Rainbow Bridge was arrested on drug charges while allegedly traveling to Niagara Falls.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say they noticed nervous behavior and an inconsistent story when they spoke with the unnamed man at the border.

“CBP officers are trained to identify signs calling for the further inspection of suspicious individuals arriving at the U.S. border,” Acting Port Director Cary Frieling said. “Our officers are the first line of defense at the border, and work diligently to protect the American public.”

A subsequent search of his vehicle led to the alleged discovery of more than 15 grams of cocaine and nearly 5 grams of marijuana. Authorities subsequently seized the drugs.

Niagara Falls police took custody of the man and the alleged drugs following the incident. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
