Officials accuse man of illegally selling medical marijuana

MEDINA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Drug sales from Medina to Rochester led to the arrest of a Monroe County man in Orleans County.

Investigators with the Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force have been investigating the sale and distribution of pills and medical marijuana in the area. The medical marijuana allegedly being sold has been in the form of pills and liquid.

Members of the Task Force and Medina police stopped a vehicle on S. Main St. in the village Monday. The driver, Rochester resident Steven Jones, 47, was arrested on a number of drug charges.

Searches of his vehicle, his home and a Medina apartment followed the arrest. During the searches, officials say they found oxycodone and hydrocodone pills as well as medical marijuana in both pill and liquid forms.

Jones was charged with third, fourth and fifth degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Following a court appearance, Jones was jailed in Orleans County on $50,000 bail.

Jones faces at least 14 additional charges related to drug possession and sales. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
