Lackawanna man arrested in cell phone scam

LACKAWANNA, NY (WIVB) – A special investigations unit of the New York State Police arrested a Lackawanna man for allegedly running a cell phone scam.

Bena S. Albaneh, 30, was arrested following a 5-month investigation by two units of the State Police.

Albaneh is charged with scheming to defraud in a case involving at least 13 victims who where lured into purchasing cellular phones from Albaneh with the promise of taking over the cell phone account.

The suspect was arraigned in Town of Clarence Court and is being held at the Erie County Holding Center.  Bail set at $10,000.
