Car crashes into school bus in Wheatfield

TOWN OF WHEATFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) — A car collided with a school bus in the town of Wheatfield Wednesday afternoon.

New York State Police say North Tonawanda resident Elijah Zapp, 21, was going south on Hoover Rd. when the bus in front of him stopped to drop off a child.

Despite its red lights flashing, Troopers say Zapp ended up crashing into the bus from behind.

29 children were on the bus, but no one was injured.

Zapp was ticketed for following the bus too closely, driving at an unsafe speed, driving without a license and failing to provide an insurance card, Troopers say. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
