UB Police investigating armed robbery on South Campus

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- UB Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred around 5:58 p.m. on Friday near the Parker Lot on South Campus.

Police say the victim was walking to the Parker lot on the South Campus when the suspect displayed a small knife and demanded money. This is the same location where an attempted armed robbery was reported on Thursday afternoon.

The suspect is described as a black male age 16-20, approximately 5-foot-5 or 5-foot-6, with a thin build and wearing a grey puffy winter coat, camel pants and a black ski mask.

The University at Buffalo says a similar robbery occurred on Lisbon Avenue around the same time. University Police checked backyards along Winspear Avenue with the Buffalo Police and their K9 unit.

University Police have posted a special detail to the South Campus and increased patrols. In a statement UB reminded members of the university community “to stay alert to their surroundings and always travel with other people. When possible, use the SBI Safety Shuttle or other UB transportation services. Call 829-2584 for shuttle information and to schedule rides.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call to the University Police at 645-2222.
