Volunteers stuff race packets ahead of annual Turkey Trot

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — More than 100 volunteers spent their day in Amherst getting ready for the Turkey Trot by stuffing t-shirts, bib numbers and other race day materials into packets.

Runners and walkers can pick the packets up Monday through Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Independent Health YMCA in Amherst.

14,000 people will kick off their Thanksgiving with the sold out 8K.

“It’s a really well known event, the longest consecutive running road race in America which is amazing. We love the history but it’s really about the families getting together, it’s about that community involvement. A lot of people come in from out of town and this is what they do on Thanksgiving morning so we’re proud to be a part of that,” said Jeremy Flint, executive director of Independent Health Family YMCA.

This is the 121st year of the Turkey Trot. Find the latest information about the race, click here.
