Cleanup continues in parts of Genesee County after blast of winter weather

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) – People in parts of Genesee County were waking up to a fresh layer of snow Monday morning as the first winter blast of the season continued.

Some areas saw several inches fall overnight into Monday morning.

The snow continued for some areas throughout Monday morning, adding to what had fallen since the weekend, but, the biggest issue for a lot of people was the gusting wind.

Strong winds frequently picked up large amounts of snow off the ground, creating near white out conditions for drivers on the Thruway at some points.

The blowing snow also drifted back across roadways that had already been cleared around the area, adding to the work of plow crews who had been out throughout the night.

Further, the gusting wind was making the air temperature feel much colder. Everyone is urged to bundle up before heading outside in this winter weather. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
