The Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic Unit and Buffalo Police narcotics recovered a half ounce of crack cocaine, a loaded shot gun, baggies, packaging material and a number of explosives. Binary explosives, military grade C4 and a detonating cord were all found.
28 year-old Luis Garcia Ramos is arrested for the storage of explosives and possession of paraphernalia.
Investigators told News 4 there was a 7 year-old child in the home during the search, along with the child’s mother.
Deputies say all of the items were illegally stored and within the child’s reach.
Investigators say what’s troubling is that this home is in walking distance to the casino and Canalside.
Officials say it’s not common to find these kind of explosives in a home.
Authorities told News 4, people living in the southern tier were coming into the city to purchase the drugs from Ramos.
Deputies are investigating other people who may have been involved. They could not tell us what Ramos was planning on doing with the explosives.
The arrest comes one month after law reinforcement officials started the investigation.
