Dog stabbed during standoff to serve as Grand Marshall in Jamestown Christmas Parade

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Jamestown police dog stabbed while trying to find a man charged with killing his wife will serve a special role in the city’s Christmas parade.

The Jamestown Renaissance Corporation’s website says K-9 Officer Mitchell will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshall this year.

Mitchell was allegedly stabbed by Keith Robbins after police sent him inside a home to find the man during a six-hour standoff. The dog underwent emergency surgery and survived.

Robbins was indicted on charges of fatally shooting his wife and stabbing Mitchell. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
