Upstate prison break to be featured in Lifetime movie

HOLLYWOOD, CA  (WIVB) – The upstate prison break will soon be the subject of a TV movie.

Lifetime will tell the story of the manhunt for two convicted killers and the woman who helped them escape.

Richard Matt and David Sweat broke out of the Clinton Correctional Facility last summer

It took three weeks for authorities to find them. Sweat is back in custody – Matt was killed.

The movie will focus on prison employee Joyce Mitchell, acted by Penelope Ann Miller.

Mitchell was accused and later convicted of giving them tools to help them escape.
